I felt so amazed when my friends and
I came to this beach. For the first time on 16th August 2015, I stepped on my
feet in Sungkun Beach. Instead of going
to a deserted beach, mostly people prefer to go to crowded beach. Not many
people visit pantai Sungkun, but now it has becomes one of the famous beaches
in Lombok. It is located in desa Ekas Buana kecamatan Jerowaru, Lombok Timur. It
is about 2 hours from Mataram. This beach is also known as Turtle beach,
because you can see giant Turtle island in the middle of the beach. This is
kind of hidden beach and so cozy.
If you start from Mataram, the route is
Mataram-Kediri-Praya-Sepapan-Jerowaru-Pemongkong-Ekas Buana. Since no public
transportation is available there, it’s better to use a private motorbike or
car. It’s quite tough to find this beach because Sungkun beach is located in
remote area and it’s better if you can ask local people about the route. The
road is very dusty, so you must be more careful.
If you feel a longing for pleasant beach, you completely right if you list Sungkun
beach as your destination. The water of the beach is so pure. You can see the horizon is so long. This
beach is so quiet. Your eyes will be spoiled by white sand and the giant Turtle
Island making it more interesting. Besides that, you can climb up the hill
(soft treeking) and see amazing views from the hill, but this beach is not
suitable for swimming because the wave was so strong at the time. You can enjoy sightseeing, taking picture
and of course taking selfies.
For information, if you want to explore more, close to
Sungkun beach you can head to pantai Kaliantan and pantai Dagong. They are not
that far from pantai Sungkun. You just need to follow the route and ask local
people if you need.
Make sure you bring enough water and food because no warungs/
small shop are there. You can park your motorbike close to the beach and there are
some local parking men to look after your motorbike. Don’t forget when
travelling, Keep cautious and keep cleaning. Be nice to universe and universe
will be nice to you. Enjoy and live while you are young.
